Bull Market

Definition

A long stretch when prices in a broad market are rising and optimism is high. It is often defined as a gain of 20% or more from a recent low.

Example

An index climbs from 4,000 to 4,800 over 14 months, a 20% gain off its low, so headlines call it a new bull market.

Where it all starts. A long, broad climb, not one green day.

In plain words

When stuff keeps going up for months and everyone feels smart.
