Market Order

Definition

An order to buy or sell immediately at the best price currently available. It guarantees a fill in a liquid market but not the exact price.

Example

The ask is $25.02, so a market buy for 100 shares fills at about $25.02; in a fast market it might fill at $25.10.

The simplest order. Fast fill, but the price isn't guaranteed.

In plain words

An order that buys or sells right away, at whatever price there is.
